Fulfilling Your Potential By Taking Action
As I visit with successful leaders I have discovered that each one has taken the necessary steps to reaching their potential. When other leaders seem to become stuck in unrealized potential, the successful leader has broken through. Why do some succeed and others fail in this critically important area of personal growth? There are three principles that each leader who fulfills their potential learns to implement. Here is the first:
Principle #1: Those who fulfill their potential are people of action.
Writer Jennifer Reed nails this point when she observes, “'Later' is one of those dream-killers, one of the countless obstacles we put up to derail our chances of success. The diet that starts ‘tomorrow,’ the job hunt that happens ‘eventually,’ the pursuit of the life dream that begins ‘someday’ combine with other self-imposed roadblocks and lock us on autopilot. Why do we do this to ourselves, anyway? Why don’t we take action now? Let’s face it: The familiar is easy; the uncharted path is lined with uncertainties.”
Seldom are opportunities handed to us on a silver platter. We’ve got to leave behind the “later” mindset and take action now!
Here is the take-a-way for the leader who desires to fulfill his or her potential. How is it done? What does a leader have to do in order to grow in this critical area of personal growth?
There must be a commitment to take action.
You’ve read my perspective. Now, I’d love to hear yours. What are you thinking? What do you do in order to stay in an action mode?
