“Steering Organizations To New Horizons.”
Where Do You Want To Go Today?
A Good Leader Will Take You There
Leadership vision. Some have it and some don’t. Some people are managers and they manage very well but have no insight to read between the lines and make the kind of decisions that require courage and faith in order to make the hard calls. Many a failed business has come and gone over the past few years due to a lack of leadership vision. There was no one in leadership who had what some call, the “predictive gift.”
Leadership specialist Leroy Eims explains it this way: “A leader is one who sees more than others see, who sees farther than others see, and who sees before others do.” Not everyone has this ability. None of us are the same. All of us have weaknesses and strengths. That said, if an organization is going to thrive, someone on the leadership team needs to possess leadership vision.
When the leader knows where he or she is going, they paint a picture of the future for the members of the organization. Confidence breeds more confidence. No leader is perfect and no leader has all of the answers, but a Quality Leader not only understands the times but also is flexible enough to call an audible and change direction. Not in a haphazard way, but in a way where the focus remains upon the main thing. Even when conditions on the ground change, the good leader remains focused. It was Jack Welch who stated, “A good leader remains focused . . . Controlling your direction is better than being controlled by it.”
Here is the take-a-way for the leader who desires to lead with vision. How is it done? What does a Quality Leader have to do in order to lead with vision? Here are a few suggestions:
1. Stay prepared: A prepared leader is a successful leader. It is far better to be prepared than to be lucky.
2. Be discerning: A discerning leader is a flexible leader. Sometimes plan A is simply the introduction to plan B.
3. Be creative: A creative leader is a renewed leader. Stay fresh with the latest trends in the market place and position your organization to succeed. Tap into your imagination. Remember the people who said the 8 Track player is the last piece of electronic equipment you will ever need to buy. Lead into the future, now!
