A couple of months ago I was traveling to Florida to watch my son, Luke, and his college golf team compete in a tournament. While traveling down I-95, I noticed that it was just before 11:00 a.m. and I felt the need to worship with my friends at church back home. I decided to give “live streaming” a try on my IPhone. I was able to access the website at the church and pull up the morning service in progress. That’s right, for the next hour, I not only listened to the music and an inspiring sermon by Pastor Brad Lewis, but when possible, I could even glance at the screen. The experience was almost as if I was sitting on the pew.
Granted this practice would be better accomplished when you are not driving, but it is extremely accommodating to anyone who for whatever reason is away from church. The application is useful for so many other needs such as business, education or just staying in touch with family, friends and customers.
Here are 3 additional ways to use smart technology to improve customer service:
1) Conduct meetings with your customers via Skype or FaceTime. These are quick and convenient. Customers appreciate the ability to see with whom they are talking;
2) Help your customers save money on training costs by providing live training via a Ustream program or some live streaming program on your website. Your customers could watch from multiple locations around the world in real time using their cellphone, computer, or IPad, thereby involving no travel costs; and
3) Tweet brief messages to your customers during the day. Most customers prefer to do business with venders with which they have a relationship. Social media and smart technology help us establish these kinds of relationships with a more mobile customer base.
